How to Break Your Coffee Addiction (and still keep the cozy in your morning)

Let’s chat the controversial topic of coffee & caffeine addiction ;)

Years ago, I never thought I’d be able to break my caffeine addiction, but here we are - and it feels good!

Is a cup or so in the morning the worst thing that can happen? No way.

But if you’re anything like me, I used to have a big cup of joe right when I wake up, another cup mid-morning, afternoon during nap time, and sometimes even late afternoon - full on addiction! The more I drank, the more tired I became. My anxiety was sky high and my intuition was telling me it probably wasn’t the best solution to adding an energy boost into my exhausted mom life.

Too much caffeine can contribute to some not-so-hot side effects including:

- fatigue

- increased anxiety

- increased heart rate

- insomnia

- muscle tremors

- advances aging

... just to name a few

Some of us are more sensitive to caffeine than others, so let your body be your guide. Aim to get no more than a cup or two in the morning and avoid any caffeinated beverages after 2pm (ideally after 12pm!)

If any of this sounds like a lifestyle habit you'd like to work on, I highly recommend not cutting cold turkey...

Your body needs gentle love and time to adjust!

So how can we fill that cozy emotion a warm cup of coffee often fills our soul with?!

Sometimes it’s not the coffee itself that brings our hearts joy, but rather the time in the morning of having something warm and comforting in our hand // Mmm that sounds like a good habit to me!

Other cozy drinks to consider:

- hot lemon water & honey

- matcha tea

- chai tea

- herbal tea (some of my favorites include licorice root, dandelion root, lemon balm, and nettle leaf)

- Golden Milk (combine warm milk or df milk with spices such as ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, and turmeric with a dash of vanilla and honey)

Enjoy that cozy beverage of yours and drop in the comments your favorite cozy beverage of choice!
